| Abstract | ||
Privileged India has been forced to take cognizance of the other India because of a series of events that brought to light their plight. This article is a corner stone to dismantle the caste hegemony explicitly focussing on the sufferings of low class in Indian society even in the early twentieth century as their mere existence is ambiguous. Unlike other authors of that time we see bold depictions and straight attack on the caste system that was plaguing the country. While looking at the background of the novel we come to know that the book was inspired by his aunt's experience when she had a meal with a muslim woman and was treated as an outcast by her family. |
