In the ancient times leaves and fruits ware used as food intake. As human civilization grew older new discoveries of food took place and we have now reached a stage when quickly cooked food, though with unhealthy content, has become the center of attraction replacing the traditional food. Because of globalization and changing life style fast food is more popular now-a-days. Fast food is zero in nutritional value and often high in fat, salt, sugar, and calories. Many researchers have studied the affect of fast food on health of consumers. However, research on what actually consumers perceive about fast food is very rarely available. In the present paper the authors have tried to find out the perception of consumers about the impact of fast food. With the help of chi-square test applied on data collected in the city of Surat, Gujarat, it has been found that consumers have negative perception about the consumption of fast food and its impact on health but surprisingly they do not cut down on its consumption. |
