National Development through Social Awareness – Role of Colleges

Social Awareness today is an issue that requires due attention and awareness itself. The thing about social awareness is that there seems less awareness about the term itself. We live in a society and hence there have been so many social issues prevailing in our society. Issues related to education, employment, cleanliness, female feticide, corruption etc. are buzzing around and have fetched major share of societal energy. As a human being, we are a part of nature and we accept changes happening around us and in our society. To change and to develop with every change is our natural responsibility as a living being offered with so senses to think and act rationally. The problems arise when we tend to forget this specially offered ability to us by the nature. We don’t think and act rationally often and that leads to personal, family and society issue gradually. To look into such problems and to act aptly and positively for eradication of these problems is the responsibility of rational thinkers and doers. First comes, the step of rational thinking. This is inculcated through true education and hence this paper titles “National Development through Social Awareness – Role of Colleges”. The paper rightly identifies the importance of education specifically higher education in creating social awareness. One has to believe and accept that youth can play pivotal role in
bringing around major changes in the society. Colleges and higher education institutions are the hub where maximum energy of youth is centered.
The researcher believes that colleges can play key role in inculcating social values among youth and resultantly can influence with lion share in creating social awareness. For the purpose of authenticating the belief, a small survey questionnaire of 10 questions was prepared and sent to students, teachers and others through google forms. It is found that Colleges are the focal point to address youth of the nation and colleges can highly influence national development by creating social awareness.
