Role of Information Technology in Teaching English Language

Abstract

Today the world is adapting and changing with the change in advancement. World is not static, but change is
important and every organization has to keep pace with the changing world. Requirement for education is inevitable even if it
is not mandate by law. Information Technology has played an important role in dynamic world in several aspects. The
importance of computers and language teaching is equally important and technology has played signficant role as a teaching
tool in the language classroom. The language in be teached or learned through various alternative means like Computers,
Radio, CD player, TV, Internet, E-Dictionary, Audio Cassettes, Power point slides, Videos, Mobile devices etc. Internet and
software have indicated a new era in various perspectives of our lives, to which education is not an exception. Due to the
application of cyber technologies, both teaching and learning are facilitated and promoted. Today Students learn quickly and
easier than before because of the use of information technology. Technology based effective teaching offers powerful,
interesting and new way of providing knowledge to the students. Nowadays all the educational institutes or organizations
maximize the potential of student learning by implementing computer based tools. This article throws lights on the importance
of the role of information technology in teaching English language.
