Taking the Floor: Developing Oral Skills for Communicative Purposes

This paper outlines the benefits of developing speaking skills in the language class and it further talks about the different strategies that can be adopted by a language teacher to develop a sense of motivation among the students to shun off their shyness which is beneficial for both the participants and the practitioners. It is hoped that the ideas shared in the paper can help teachers in English as a foreign language classis to effectively make use of the different strategies as a means for improving their student’s English language abilities.
